Victoria's Secret 2010 Fashion Show
Hello hello! I just watched the Victoria's Secret 2010 Fashion Show - brilliant as usual. I love the theatrics and the incredible wing designs! Can I share my favourites with you? These are my favourite "wings"! And Akon's performance was great too. His song, Angel, is perfect for this show! It puts me in such a great mood. I could get up and dance even though I've still got a paper to write! Rainbow Brite! Is that you?Want to see the rest of the costumes? Recapped has great pictures of all the outfits.

Birds and Umbrellas
It was snowing a lot this morning. I loved it, even if my drive to school was extra slow. When I got there I realized that I didn't have an umbrella. This clear one from Vancouver's The Cross Decor and Design would have been perfect! Aren't the birds sweet? It would make a lovely gift idea.

Posts from the Past
I'm sitting in front of my window writing... and watching snowflakes fall (absolutely magical). Image source: weheartitWe're back to -3 degrees. Not warm but warmer than the -9 I woke up to yesterday morning! I'm writing yet another paper today. So far this semester I have written about Qian Xuan (Chinese Literati artist), La Mezquita in Cordoba and early Islamic calligraphy/art, and now I am writing about First Nations artist, Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, the creator of Haida manga. I should really get to it! So here are a few posts from the past that I really enjoyed writing and hope you enjoy reading!

Cocktail Rings
In Nina Garcia's The One Hundred, a cocktail ring is listed as one of the 100 essential items every fashionable woman must have... I'm sure Nina knows what she's talking about! :P During one of my never ending spells of procrastination, I found a few cocktail rings that I actually quite like. They are big and bold so wear only one at a time!

Snow and Sweaters
Hello hello! It snowed over the weekend! The La Niña really has arrived. Everything is white and frozen. I just checked the temperature and it's -3 celsius. Freezing! I can feel more snow on the way. I looked out my window early Saturday morning and this is what I saw: WHITE!You can see the snow falling under the light of the lamp post. The leaves on the tree in our front yard haven't all fallen because they are frozen! This kind of weather calls for super cozy sweaters from Victoria's Secret, I think. Right now you can get a free scarf with a sweater purchase over $19 by typing in this code at checkout:VS10SCARF

Flamenco Photographs
¡Hola! As promised, photos of my recent flamenco show on the Karen Flamenco blog (which I manage as well). Here are a few pictures to tempt that pointer finger to click on this link to see the rest. :POh! And snow began to fall in fluffy white clumps while I was at my Vancouver flamenco studio! We turned off the lights to watch it fall in front of the street lamps with the downtown skyline in the background. I wish I had my camera! It's more of a slushy rain at my house... for now. ;)

One Year: Moi Je Joue
Hello guapas! Today is my one year blogging anniversary! And I'm stuck working on a paper (which is driving me crazy). But I wanted to share my initial inspiration for starting a blog. One year ago I saw the commercial for Miss Dior Cherie perfume and was completely enchanted with Sophia Coppola's work. I decided that I had to share all the things I find pretty and inspiring with anyone who would listen, including this video.
Thank you all for following my blog! You have made my experience absolutely fabulous!

Flamenco Success!
¡Hola guapas! I'm back from a very busy weekend full of flamenco fabulousness! I'm happy to report that our shows were a huge success! There were praises all around, from the audience and local press. Not to toot our own horn (but yes that is what I am doing), one viewer went even as far as saying that our company was right up there with the best companies of Spain! What an incredible compliment! And the sun just appeared to brighten a dreary and wet Vancouver day!As you can probably tell from this photo, members of our company come from many different cultural backgrounds: Spain, Italy, Uruguay, Iran, Venezuela, Singapore, Germany, England, India, Israel, Philippines, China, Serbia, Scotland... We make a very international mix! Living in Vancouver and our love of flamenco has brought us all together. Flamenco is an art form that many different people can relate to. You don't have to be Spanish to be moved by it. I'll have to explain this more later and there are more pictures to come but right now I have a paper thats due tomorrow! So, hasta mañana!

The Selby
Looking for inspiration? Todd Selby of The Selby (of course :P ) is publishing a book of his photographs and sneak peeks into the lives of artistic and creative people in their homes. If your space isn't inspiring you, maybe their homes will?
Today and tomorrow are the last two days of viewing the book, The Selby is in Your Place, for free online! I've flipped through the whole thing and wouldn't mind adding a hard copy to my collection ;)

Public Dreams 25th Birthday
A few weeks ago, the Public Dreams Society celebrated its 25th Birthday. I wish I could explain what the Public Dreams Society is but I'm still trying to figure it out! I think it is a society that promotes community involvement in the arts by hosting fantastic events. Thanks to my involvement with flamenco, I had a chance to participate in the 25th birthday bash. There were electronic graffiti boards, LED hula hoopers, swing dancers, girls wearing balloon dresses, stilt walkers in blue and white rococo wigs(?), a band performing, walking characters, Brazilian drummers, face painters, tarot card readers, people in Venetian masks... There was a tea party in one corner and a magician in another corner; artists at work on their canvases and flamenco dancers! It was like being in wild and colourful carnivale! If you are wondering, that flamenco dancer in the foreground is my teacher :)

Faux Fur Fabulous
Hello all you fabulous people! I am four days away from another flamenco show so it's going to be a week full of rehearsals. I've been browsing the Stradivarius collection and I really wish I could get it here in Vancouver. Or I wouldn't mind popping over to Madrid for a shopping weekend (if only I had that kind of luxury)! I have this urge to purchase a furry jacket; faux, of course. Here are a few that I really like...This last one is calling my name... no, it's yelling my name!
Oh! Would you be interested in seeing photos from the show and some backstage madness? Let me know and I'll make sure to get my camera out ;)
