Belated Blog Anniversary: Moi Je Joue

Long time no blog! It's my last week of classes for this semester and all the deadlines I've been dreading are here! I've been so busy that I didn't even realize I missed my blog anniversary on November 17th.When I started this blog two years ago, I never thought I would have even a small number of people interested in reading it. I wanted a space to play with my thoughts and to record all the fabulous things I found in my internet travels. That said, I'm extremely grateful to all those who take time to read and to subscribe! Just for fun (because moi, je joue) I'd like to share my initial inspiration:


I just loved this commercial: it's whimsy, it's fantasy, it's mood, and it's colours! This blog was a whim and a place to play with my travel, fashion, and design fantasies.

What can I say? Me, I play. Moi Je Joue.

Rainbows

Happy Monday! Not so happy for me, with a presentation, an essay, and an exam all on the way. But that's just me grumbling. I wish it was the weekend!

The Waltz

Well I feel spoiled! Last night I saw André Rieu in concert with my dad. He is an incredible violinist and with his orchestra, puts on a magical show! If I closed my eyes, it would have sounded like I was living in another era. But then I would have missed seeing the couples waltzing on the floor, the sparkling lights behind the stage, the pastels of the women in the orchestra, the reflection of the lights on the brass and violin bows, and the balloons that came down in the finale! I have to share a video of his finale medley...

Thanks to this concert I'm listening to this song now... and this song! Lucky for me, my mom had a Christmas dinner and couldn't go! But she gets to go to one of the biggest Canuck games ever: the day they retire Markus Nazlund's number... I think we're even!

Public Dreams 25th Birthday

A few weeks ago, the Public Dreams Society celebrated its 25th Birthday. I wish I could explain what the Public Dreams Society is but I'm still trying to figure it out! I think it is a society that promotes community involvement in the arts by hosting fantastic events. Thanks to my involvement with flamenco, I had a chance to participate in the 25th birthday bash. There were electronic graffiti boards, LED hula hoopers, swing dancers, girls wearing balloon dresses, stilt walkers in blue and white rococo wigs(?), a band performing, walking characters, Brazilian drummers, face painters, tarot card readers, people in Venetian masks... There was a tea party in one corner and a magician in another corner; artists at work on their canvases and flamenco dancers! It was like being in wild and colourful carnivale! If you are wondering, that flamenco dancer in the foreground is my teacher :)

Funny Face

Thank goodness it's Friday! Tonight I am going to curl up in my super fluffy comforter with the latest Vogue, or maybe watch Funny Face (1957). It's a classic! Everyone knows Audrey Hepburn from the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's but this one is just as fashionable! Singing, dancing, fashion, photography, a magazine... it's a talkie for gals! And who doesn't love Paris and balloons?

The Fashionable Giraffe

My long weekend is quickly drawing to a close and I am royally procrastinating on my assignment. While watching the Rachel Zoe Project (guilty pleasure!), I saw the behind the scenes making of Demi Moore's April 2010 Harper's Bazaar cover shoot. This is the most fashionable giraffe of the year! :PFabulous isn't it?

Thomas Pink Fall 2010

I am dying of cliffhangers thanks to White Collar and VD! But, in trying to distract myself, I started to window shop at Thomas Pink online. I love their fall 2010 ad campaign. They took such great photos and I love the style, of course! And I especially loved the use of balloons in their photos. :) Have an awesome weekend! I'm off to clean my room... some more.

Baby Chic

This commercial is the cutest thing ever! And probably the most fashionable one of its kind too. I have no reason to buy diapers but if I did, I would have to buy these at least once! This baby is so well dressed!

Fashionable Birthday Balloons

Hello! Happy Wednesday (at least for ten more minutes)! I'm so so stuffed with delicious food! Today is my 21st birthday and I got home from a lovely dinner with my parents and aunt and uncle. Now I'm watching a classic Ginger Rogers film entitled Fifth Avenue Girl and started watching it just as one of the characters declared it was his birthday and a whole restaurant of people sang to him! Haha what a funny coincidence. I didn't have a big party full of balloons but here are a few photos that I liked...
