Summer Wedding: Carolina y Fabrizio

Happy Tuesday! It's been insanely busy (I seem to say that a lot lately) on my end. Basically, I work on the computer all day, commute home, dance classes, family (so many in town this summer), sleep.
Two weeks ago, I attended a small but very beautiful wedding. The bride made her own gown! Enjoy these photos and I promise I'll be back tomorrow!Such a beautiful bride!
Yes. She made that dress! And the whole wedding was planned in about two months!

Moulin Rouge: Love or Fortune

Happy Friday! Today I spent the day on a Vespa weaving through taxis and New York traffic. I loved it!
I have a video of one of the numbers from Karen Flamenco's Moulin Rouge! Watch it and be amazed at how truly creative this traditional dance can be! And trust me, it's Moulin Rouge like you've never seen before... Enjoy guapas y guapos! Óle!

Moulin Rouge

It's show day today! I'm excited and nervous and, this is terrible, but lazy to attempt 1920's inspired finger waves in my hair. When I have photos I'll share them with you! Have an awesome weekend!Update: It was a super successful show! The theatre was full and the audience didn't hesitate to yell olé! My only mishap: my corset zipper head came right off just before the finale, causing my corset to open and fall off! I flung it into the wings just in time for curtain rise! Pictures to come when I get copies!

Girl's Night

Last night was girl's night: my mother, grandmother and I went to downtown to watch Paco Peña's Flamenco Vivo! What an inspiring show! Last night the company made their stop in Vancouver and filled the theatre till the lobby was bursting! The guitar, singing, and dancing were all so incredible! Here is a promo video (I couldn't find a video of last night's show). Ramón Martínez was incredible (the one with the red shoes)!..

Shiny Shoes

Hello again! I'm trying very hard to get back into routine (not very successful yet). Tomorrow is the celebration of the Epiphany. If you are not familiar with it, this is the day we commemorate the visit of the three Magi to the Baby Jesus.
When I was young, my family and I had the tradition of placing our shoes, all shiny and clean, by the window for the Three Kings to see. If they were sparkling clean, we would receive presents! Since I'm probably a little old to leave my shoes by the windows, I'll just post a few of my favourites here. ;)
Shiny blue and reptile-of some sort-skin pattern? I like.
My fabulous riding boots...
A gift from India...
Birthday treat...
My retired and well used flamenco shoes!
Do I have a shoe addiction? Maybe... :P

Flamenco Photographs

¡Hola! As promised, photos of my recent flamenco show on the Karen Flamenco blog (which I manage as well). Here are a few pictures to tempt that pointer finger to click on this link to see the rest. :POh! And snow began to fall in fluffy white clumps while I was at my Vancouver flamenco studio! We turned off the lights to watch it fall in front of the street lamps with the downtown skyline in the background. I wish I had my camera! It's more of a slushy rain at my house... for now. ;)
