Blahnik's Blue Satin Heels

I love shoes. When I was 3, my mom threatened to throw all my shoes away if I didn't pick up my toys. Needless to say I cried out and cleaned up my room very soon after!I know you've probably all seen these before but I love these blue Manolo Blahnik's that starred in the Sex and the City movie. I wish I could win the lottery and buy them! Aren't they lovely?! In the film, they were in the $500 range but in reality, they were in the $800 range, created for the masses due the high demand from Sex and the City fans!

Pretty Dishes

My mom came home the other day with brand new Villeroy & Bosch dishes. As much as I tease her about buying another set of dishes (or adding to an old one in this case) I have to admit that these ones are really elegant. So I decided to check it out online for myself. And I found these the New Wave Acapulco line. They are not quite the traditional dish but they are so cute! And now...off to work.

Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! or squeeze the day :P
Ever have one of those days where something just gets you down or frustrated? I don't own one of these but just finding a stress ball with an inspirational age-old saying and a clever play on words and blogging helped brighten my afternoon! One more thing that's bright and cheery and always helps push away the stress: Music.

Vancouver Time Lapsed

With the Olympics drawing closer and closer, the city is starting to buzz... My uncle sent me this video and it's so fascinating. It may rain here in winter but this city is so beautiful and it's going to showcased to the world in a few weeks! The Olympics in my hometown...once in a lifetime!

Free Like Love

Hey lovelies! I have to share a new song with you. It's actually a country song (which usually isn't really my style) by a group called The Higgins. Siblings, Kathleen, Eileen, and John team up and create original songs with pretty lyrics and wonderful harmonies. I have to admit though... I'm a little biased since Kathleen is a very dear friend of mine! Anyways, back to this new song entitled "Free Like Love". The video is on the right side of this page. Seriously! It's such a happy song! Kathleen's voice is so gorgeous, reminding me a lot of the lead singer of The Corrs... OH! By the way, there's a contest for this new single and Valentine's Day. Enjoy the song! (sorry I couldn't put it here for you)

Black and White Ballet

I was watching Step Up and now I find myself wishing I could be a professional dancer. I do a bit of this and a bit of that but I'm still searching for the one thing that I love and can be great at. I love to dance, but I haven't been able to devote all my time to it. I use to horseback ride but I fell and now my knees click. :P I love to sing and I am a regular performer for my shampoo bottles! Oh well I'll find that one thing when I'm not looking for it I guess! For now though, Step Up is still fresh in my mind and I have been looking at some beautiful ballet photos...Photo sources: we(heart)it (first two), Flickr, Weston Photography, the last one I found google images

Green Green Grass of Ireland

This is meant to be my Monday travel bug post but I just realized that as I write this, it is already 11:59 pm. And now it's midnight! Well it may be too late to say it's Monday, but I'm right on time for it to be the Tuesday travel bug post! Oh! But one more thing before I get to the point: it was my Mom's birthday yesterday/Monday and I am stuffed from her birthday dinner!
Now, wouldn't it be nice to stay here?Or maybe here:Or maybe even here:There are so many beautiful places in Ireland I just had to put more than one option. Dunlavin, County Wicklow; County Carlow; Dingle, County Kerry... Ireland's Blue Book is a great place to start looking...
But, saving the best for last: Dromoland Castle. Located in Clare, this 5-star getaway is a beautiful place in the south/southwest of Ireland. Ahhh one day...

Hope for Haiti

I wish I knew about this telethon before it aired. It's heartwarming and moving to see so many famous names come together and use their music to inspire the world to help our fellowmen in need. Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Bono, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, Shakira...The list goes on and on. If you want and can donate something to the efforts, Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief is an easy and accessible way to do it. Prayers for Haiti...A more upbeat and hopeful song by the Haitian born artist, Wyclef Jean...

Rolettes and Pistachios!

"Sugar dates! Sugar dates and figs! Sugar dates and pistachios!"
Okay. There are no figs or sugar dates like the merchant from Disney's Aladdin yelled in the marketplace but I do have some other goodies to tell you about. Yesterday, after skiing and missing any opportunity for a real meal the whole day, I was ravenous at dinner time! This of course led to a wee bit of over indulging. I have to tell you about the dessert our good friends brought over: Persian pastries. Mmmm! I don't have my pictures uploaded yet but here are a few that I found at Nooschi...Napelonee: flaky pastry with egg custard. Yum!This rolette is so amazing! Cake, cream, and pistachios on top! My favorite so far!

Lace, Silk, Sparkle and Shine

Hello lovelies! I was with my mother looking for a fleece vest for my pop when we passed by a BCBG store. It's new to our local mall and we just couldn't resist going in for a peek! That's when I saw it. The dress that makes me wish I had a special occasion (not to mention the extra cash) to shop for! A lace-embellished silk piece, it has a vintage air! So pretty and feminine...And now I think I'm going to go all out and put in a pair of shoes that I certainly wouldn't mind owning as well! I love these nude pumps! The first one is a patent Jimmy Choo and the second is a glittery Christian Louboutin. Shoe envy! ;P

White Rooms

First yellow scarves and now white rooms (I'm a little partial to these colour themed posts)! Kerry Joyce is an L.A. based and award winning interior designer, interior architect, and furniture designer. A triple threat! His designs are classic and chic and elegant. I absolutely love the mirror armoire...He designs in colour as well but I really love the simplicity of these rooms! Don't you? Maybe if my room was a little...well, emptier! It might have a shot at the simplicity thing!

Big Yellow Scarf

I was browsing through the I Saw You section in the Georgia Straight and found this:

Big yellow scarf
I saw a: Female I am a: Male When: January 12, 2010 Where: Granville St. & 5th
you: brunette, very pretty, with big yellow scarf standing at red light underneath Granville bridge by 4th Avenue. Me: tall, wool coat with grey scarf. I walked up and stood at light beside you, we looked at each other, then I walked through the park to 5th Avenue, then looked at you again and caught you looking back. I wanted to talk to you but didn't, wish I did. I came back to see if you were still in the neighborhood but you were gone. Coffee?
Isn't this just the sweetest? Now I want a big yellow scarf. Thank goodness for Etsy browsing! Here are a few yellow scarves that I liked. Click on the picture to find out where to get them. This first one by Beautiful Bridget is my favorite...

Clothbound Classics

Since I'm sitting in the study commons at my university, I thought maybe a more academic post would be fitting. Actually, it's not really very academic. Literature professors do love to throw them into the curriculum however: the classics. I like to pick one up myself without having to thoroughly analyze the story till it becomes just a bunch of words on the page that symbolize something else entirely! During my travels, I bought the book A Game of Hide and Seek by Elizabeth Taylor (not the actress!). This is isn't a classic but I loved the book cover: original and cloth-bound. The 'classic' discovery I made was at anthroplogie.com. These Penguin classics have abandoned the traditional dust jackets and have donned embossed canvas covers. Aren't they pretty?!
