GOLD

GOLD BABY!!! HOCKEY IS CANADA'S GAME!!!! I wish I could have been in the heart of downtown watching this game with thousands of other proud and passionate Canadians instead of being at home with my dog Bruno. But (!!!) that's okay! I was happily screaming and jumping up and down, dancing and then singing and screaming some more, even if I was by myself :P Sidney Crosby! You are Canada's golden boy right now, along side all the other amazing athletes. This Olympics draws to a close in spectacular fashion. I can't believe how fast it went...

Signs

So I'm really in the mood for a good chick-flick. I think I'd like to find myself a... a... Jerry (P.S. I Love You) or a William Darcy. Yes either would do just fine! Here's a sweet short film that a friend once showed me on Youtube. You never know who or how you'll meet someone ;)
Isn't it so sweet?!

Bye Lucy...

It's a sad part of life but it happens no matter how much we wish to avoid it. Goodbye to my little stinky and cute Scottie, Lucy. I'll admit, I didn't give her as much attention as I do to my big dog, but she could be very smelly unless she had just had a bath! Still she was a spunky little thing that lived for food! Look at this (in these pictures, well groomed) cutie! So here's a lucy-themed find today: a terrier tote from Kamiseta. I actually have one of these in purple but I like these two colours as well :)

Stuttering

I love this song. It is so sweet. The weather is strangely warm for February and is beginning to feel like spring! The crocuses and heather are all blooming, making purple and white spring up everywhere again. It puts me in such a good mood :) And so does this song and the super cute pictures...

I first heard it in this brilliant Dentyne Ice commercial.

Thank You, Thank You!

Well beautiful people I must thank you profusely for reading my blog. I love being able to share pretty things, funny stories, and inspiring images with you. A special thank you to Fleur-de-Lis for treating me to this lovely award. It really makes me happy! So Muitu Obrigado Fleur-de-Lis!7 seems to be the "bloggy number" so here are 7 things about me, a song, some things that make me happy (update: I just counted, coincidentally, I wrote 7 here as well), and 7 wonderful bloggers that deserve an award:
  1. I love eating apples with peanut butter
  2. I want to own a white Vespa
  3. I love to dance flamenco and wish I was a professional dancer
  4. I wish I had never stopped playing piano
  5. I can't drink coffee first thing in the morning
  6. I'm afraid of heights
  7. I hope one day to be able to ski moguls with complete confidence
I love music. A lot of music: chillout, house, top 40, classic rock, world, jazz, movie scores, music through the ages.... the list really and truly goes on and on! It's easier to say what I really don't like: gangster rap, heavy metal and screamers. So it's really quite difficult to pick just one but here's a really good one I like right now (I go through phases)

And here are only a few things (there are many more) that make or will make me happy: being hugged, painting and drawing, singing, falling head over heels in love only once (hopefully; I'm a hopeless romantic), surprises and major laugh trips with my cousin/sister.

And now, check out these lovely blogs: CITY MICE, Everyday Sugar, feu d'artifice, if you never did, you should, A Shimmy In My Spirit, Taryn Cox the Wife, the thinking tank

Blissful Photographs

I couldn't resist putting some of Elizabeth Messina's photographs because they are so pretty. Aren't they pretty? I don't have much to say because these photos shine out on their own. I wonder when I'll find the one who will put the twinkles in my stars :)

Records and Turntables

Hello hello. I'm thinking of a place I'd like to be at right now so that I can share it with you. An escape would be really great right about now. But in the meantime, look what I found at Urban Outfitters. Records and turntables have such a classic feel and vintage charm attached to them :)

Old Stone House

Hello lovelies! It has been an interesting few days, very busy, but interesting. Funny, weird, or unexpected moments and highlights would include:
  • survive my first week of super early morning starts
  • went to an olympic hockey game
  • met a guy and actually gave him my number
  • then had a total freak out after that, completely dumbfounded as to why I did that
  • responded to a fire (and a lot of smoke) at work
  • saw Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson today
  • freaked out even more, before meeting this guy for coffee, expecting it to be the most horrible thing I've ever had to sit through in my life
  • was somewhat surprised after the fact
  • now: confused and on the fence still (I don't like to string a guy along)
But I must share this gorgeous home that appeared in the movie, Marley and Me. Its such a charming old Pennsylvania farm house. I want one!

If You Never Did, You Should: go to an olympic event

Photo contest at: If You Never Did, You Should (Check it out)
Okay do I have a story for you! Haha! Well, I was supposed to work today but I had the good fortune of getting sick (one of those overnight type things) and so I called in sick. I happen to know the fellow who picked up the phone so it was fine. But then, after enjoying a lovely sleep-in and leisurely morning, I had the fantastic fortune of getting a ticket to the hockey game Canada vs. Switzerland! So of course I jumped on the opportunity even though the ticket was $300! But really now, how many times will I ever get a ticket in the lower bowl, row 12 and practically centre ice for an Olympic men's ice hockey game in my hometown?! But this is where things get funny! On my way to the stadium, who should I bump into? Julian, the guy who picked up the phone when I called in sick this morning! Seriously, what are the odds??!
The game, however, was definitely worth it! We won after a nail-biting finish with sudden death overtime and a shoot-out! Here is a picture of this super red and white electric atmosphere:So if you never did, you should go to an Olympic event, especially if it's in your hometown. Oh and I made new friends too. Canadians bonding over hockey? Well what do ya know, eh?! ;P

Art and Fashion: DVF Project 2008

I love magazines. I really love them! Flipping through, looking at pictures, reading them...I am addicted to magazines! I was just flipping through an Elle Magazine from two years ago and found a Diane Von Furstenberg advertisement with Natalia Vodianovia. The campaign is really quite artistic:The mixed media of photography and painting inspires me applied by artist Francois Marie Bernier (one of my favorites right now) inspires me :)

Once Bitten...

Hi hi! So I'm loving Nylon Magazine. It's not exactly the same as a typical fashion magazine like Vogue or Elle but I like it. It's got its own...magazine charm! It has fashion, a travel feature, art, and I can't help but admit that what got to buy this month's issue was who is on its cover :PI can't help myself! Watching the Vampire Diaries is my guilty pleasure and wonderful distraction from reality! I didn't plan on watching it and getting hooked but alas! It was just meant to be that way. Once bitten, you're turned :P
Plus I really like her make-up in this photo shoot (not just the blue-eyed Damon haha).

Thank You, But No?...

Okay. I have a dilemma. I started work at the airport again with very early and very long 9 hour shifts. I just got an email saying I've been scheduled as a "Zone Lead." Now most would be happy at this apparent promotion from "student" to "zone lead" but not me. All it means is that I'm now there for 10 hours starting at 5:30am and I get to carry a radio, which really is not all that thrilling. This is my third shift back and I don't want to be in charge of other people!!! Thank you, but no? Thank you, but NO. How does one say that?

On a more 'sure of myself' note: check out this photo contest! Hosted by Jodi Sagorin at her blog, If You Never Did, You Should.

Update, Wed. Feb.17: I was right. The most exciting thing that happened was that there were two washroom alarms, which were nothing but a loose switch. How exciting my ten hour shift has been!

Vancouver, B.C.

If you've been following the Olympics then you've probably seen shots and images of Vancouver already. I have to say though, normally on Mondays I share a destination that I feel like flying off to, but right now I don't that any place that tickles my fancy except for home! I wouldn't mind going to Whistler actually, which is two hours away from home. I almost went too except, the real world calls me to work tomorrow at 6am :S
Here are a few shots I've taken around Vancouver (pre-Olympics). Enjoy!Imagine this street crowded with people, sculptures, lantern trees, tents, media, umbrellas and no cars and you've got Granville St. during the Olympics! This one was taken while driving to one of the local mountains. After watching Olympic ski events I'm itching to buckle my boots and pop my skis on!

Hey Ocean!

The Richmond Olympic Ozone park was chilly, crowded and rainy, but oh so much fun! The crowds were yelling and cheering our athletes together while dancing along to Hey Ocean! followed by Bedouin Soundclash, two brilliant local bands. But my favorite is Hey Ocean. It was for this band that I arrived there early and held my spot at the front of the stage. With such a unique sound, this young band with growing success really know how to put on a good show and deliver for there fans.

Little Blue Box

Ahh yes. That little blue box will most likely making a quite a few appearances tomorrow I'm thinking. I would probably just be a spectator admiring the glittering splendor within, but no where near as glamourous looking as Audrey (I wish)! These lovely charms and pendants are what I would be eyeballing. Especially the Tiffany keys. They are so lovely! By the way: I saw the Olympic flame in downtown Vancouver today (the city was so full of people like I've never seen before!). I'll try my best to take some really awesome pictures and post them here!! And now, off to the Olympic Ozone park to catch some fantastic local bands and celebrate at the Holland Heineken House!
