Swing Fever

I have swing fever! Tonight I went swing dancing after a much too long hiatus from it! It was so much fun. Thanks to my dear friend Liesel I ended up going. Most of the leads were beginners but I got to lindy hop like this girl when I asked the instructor to dance! Okay, maybe I didn't lindy exactly like this girl but I'll get there :) After all, I'm a little out of practice! I think I'm going to watch this film tonight. Released in 1943, this is a scene from Swing Fever (full song/scene here)...

Penelope en Vogue

I found a Vogue shoot of Penelope Cruz (you can click here for the story) in an issue from 2007 and I love the dresses and styling. So I can't resist sharing it with you. My favourite dresses are the Marchesa gowns. They are so glamourous: ebony silk tulle ball gown with the gold appliqué and the cerise ombre silk-organza petal dress... :D

Doggy Glasses

I know it's Saturday and your weekends have already started but I'll say it anyways: have a fabulous weekend! I hope this cute puppy brings a smile to your face. I found out that my dog needs a pair of glasses like this fella. Very academic!

Classic Cards and Prints

I was Etsy surfing the other day when I stumbled upon a very pretty and dainty shop. Yardia is the shop of artist Brigida Swanson who found inspiration for her drawings in the classic reads of Jane Austen, Charlotte Brönte, and Emily Dickenson (to name a few). All her images are drawn and lettered by hand using an old-fashioned nib pen and a pot of ink! Then she screenprints her images and classic quotes onto paper, cards, and journals herself using a Japanese Print Gocco machine. Pretty, no?

Mad Hatter Engagement

I couldn't help but feature these photos by Jessica Claire. I love the table setting and the use of all the clocks! It's such a creative and unique spin on the popular and much used Alice in Wonderland theme don't you think? It's an elegant and subtle play on the Mad Hatter and his tea party. The day I have a reason to take engagement photos, I hope I find a photographer that can take fabulous photos and created whimsical sets like these! Turkish Lights

I saw this picture on design*sponge and discovered l'aviva home, a place where you can buy beautiful exotic pieces from around the world and add some flare to your home. I really would love to replace the light in my room with this Turkish Pendant Lamp! Isn't it absolutely fabulous!

Winter Weddings

Although I'm no where near to getting married or even considering it, I like to look at what other people have done for their weddings (no, I don't have my someday dream wedding all planned out!). I know summer tends to be the popular season for weddings but winter can be quite beautiful as well. Just picture it: the happy couple and their guests together in a room with large fireplaces, tealights on the tables, glasses clinking, and the outside world is becoming blanketed by falling snow. I can practically see the glow a room like this would cast through its windows! Here are some photos that I found of beautiful winter weddings. There were so many but these are my favourites...

Vespa Daniela

Hello and happy Monday! If it didn't rain so much during the winter and if I lived right in the city, I would seriously love to have a Vespa. Here's an incredibly unique scooter, the Vespa Daniela, created by Portuguese carpenter Carlos Alberto. Not quite the most sustainable choice to use wood but it makes for a beautiful mode of transportation! And yes; it actually works.

Have a fabulous weekend guapas! I'm going to be doing a lot of reading for school. Thanks for all the advice on the coat rack colour as well. You' re going to laugh at my bout with indecision because after all that fuss, I decided not to order the coat rack! I've discovered that a hanging shoe holder works fabulously well as a scarf holder! Hasta luego ;) By the way, that dog is so super cute; looks a lot like my dog!

Ello There Wedding Invitations

'Ello 'ello 'ello (I'm trying to channel Bert from Mary Poppins but it's way easier said than typed)! A friend of mine recently flew off to Ukraine to get married and I couldn't help notice this Etsy shop, Ello There, which sells fabulous, fun and unique wedding invitations! I have to share my favourites with you:Cute huh? Oh! On a side note: I got to see Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in action tonight! It was so cool! Hotel AnaYela: A Moroccan Jewel

Thank you for all the advice so far on which colour to pick! Tomorrow I'm going to the store and take a look before I make my final decision. For now I have this urge to go to Morocco. I love the exotic Arabian nights atmosphere. It's a romantic notion...I've blogged about Marrakech before but I had to share it's incredible design hotel, Hotel AnaYela (really great website by the way). Like something right out of the movies, the hotel is named after a girl named Yela, whose journal was discovered in one of the secret rooms of the 300 year old palace. Her story has been hammered in silver onto the vast doors so that guests can wander throughout and read them like the pages of a storybook...Incredible isn't it? I know I just got back from Spain but I want to go and visit Morocco right now ;)

Help! Coat Rack Colour?

Hello ladies! It's back to school for me. I've got a lot of reading to do this semester. For now though, I'm trying to get organized. My next purchase hopefully is this coat rack from Urban Outfitters. I plan to hang all my scarves on it instead of behind my bedroom door. Can't wait to have it in my room! But what colour? Help! The walls of my room are avocado green and I've got dark wood furniture, a big fluffy white carpet and blue and green pillows. What do you guys think?

Thomas Pink Fall 2010

I am dying of cliffhangers thanks to White Collar and VD! But, in trying to distract myself, I started to window shop at Thomas Pink online. I love their fall 2010 ad campaign. They took such great photos and I love the style, of course! And I especially loved the use of balloons in their photos. :) Have an awesome weekend! I'm off to clean my room... some more.
