Desks

I'm currently in the stages of beginning a "purge" of things in my room. This usually happens every once in a while. I clean, reorganize, throw out, etc. and my room looks pretty good for a while. And then, stuff starts to build up, collect, and clutter until one day, I get fed up and begin the process all over again. Right now I working towards creating a better desk space: new table, cleaner space so that I can sketch and work or whatever it is I might need a space for. Here are a few pretty, artistic and inspiring spaces I wish I could say were mine!Click on image for sources

Gastown

Happy Sunday! I have a long day of dancing ahead of me but I have to share a little piece of Vancouver with you. I was at an area of downtown called Gastown and it is one of the cutest and quaintest picture-worthy areas of the city. I had a girls night and it was so much fun! If you ever come to Vancouver, have your cameras ready for the bricks, the lights, the steam-clock and the stylish little pubs of Gastown!Beautiful bricks...The building that changes colour and the signature Gastown street lamps...
And the photographed many times over steam clock that sings and blows at intervals...Obviously there was no snow in May but doesn't it look so lovely with a layer of frosting?...
Photos found through google search and at uzhik's Gastown photostream and Meighan's photostream

Persuasion

When someone says "Jane Austen" the most common thing that pops into anyone's mind is usually her novel Pride and Prejudice. But don't forget about the other five she wrote. Right now I'm reading Persuasion. I saw the movie first which had me holding my breath the entire time! I love it. BBC makes good Austen films!
If you don't already know, the story is about Anne Elliot, a 27 yr. old woman whom the fates have given a second chance at love 8 years after she was persuaded to break off her engagement to Captain Frederick Wentworth. It's a story of waiting and second chances...By the way, if you ever feel like watching it but don't know where to find it... it's all on YouTube! Shhh! Don't tell ;)

Floating Market

I was flipping through channels on the telly the other night and found a National Geographic program called Traveler. It was featuring Thailand and I happened to catch it when it was featuring the famous floating market, Damnoen Saduak. Isn't it fascinating?! A new place to add to my list. I hear it is a common tourist site just outside of Bangkok but it looks so amazing in pictures that I would be willing to do the tourist route. :PFruits, vegetables, hats...
Lunch on the river?
I want one of those hats!
It's so colourful. Can you imagine? Smells of fresh produce, smells and bubbling sounds of food frying, the river water, the loud bargaining...
If you ever go, make sure to do your research. There are lots of websites with details of guided tours and people's travelogues :)

Bubbles

Today was a lazy lazy day. It would have been nice if I could have spent it outside but it's a rainy grey day. Happy Wednesday! Here's a sweet picture I found...Blowing bubbles can be so much fun! Here's a few more I found at I heart it

The Pearl of Dorset

I'm reading the Jane Austen novel, Persuasion, right now and I think I'd like to go to Lyme Regis. It's a lovely seaside town that is known as the Pearl of Dorset and has been a getaway destination for Jane Austen and Beatrix Potter! One of its quirky claims to fame is the discovery of fossils, making it part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site.I would love to walk where Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth walked along the Cobb with the Harvilles, Captain Benwick and the Musgroves....And take pictures of the charming artificial bay (the Cobb is a medieval structure) and lampposts...
Here's a random but interesting post about Lyme and it's history.

Victoria Day and Cupcakes

It's a national holiday in Canada today: Victoria Day. Officially, it's in honour of Queen Victoria's birthday. Unofficially, it marks the start of the summer season. Those are good enough reasons for a long weekend to me! I feel like eating a cupcake now but with warm weather and a performance on the way (I want my costumes to still fit me by the end of June!) I think I'll just look at pictures of pretty cupcakes! So Happy Birthday Queen Victoria! Have a cupcake!

Lilacs

Lilacs are easily one of my favourite flowers. They smell so good and look very pretty in a glass jar on a white chair. It's an elegant and fresh touch to any room, isn't it? They're a sign: summer is coming...
