The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond
I just discovered and was immediately drawn into this film, based on the play, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, by Tennessee Williams. I haven't seen it yet but it sounds and looks like a good one. Set in Memphis during the Roaring Twenties, the film follows the story of Fisher Willow, a young and headstrong heiress who rebels against proper Southern society by asking the poor but handsome son, Jimmy Dobyne, of her father's caretaker to be her escort to the season's social events. What happens to such a business deal when she falls in love with him? I don't know! But I want to find out...Doesn't the film just look pretty? :P

Colourful Food
What do all these ingredients make? Yes. A very pretty and colourful salad. Pansies are one of many edible flowers that can add a splash of colour to your food. Here's the recipe I found from online magazine She Knows. It looks so fresh and summery and filled with lovely colours :) It sounds quite delicious as well...
With their beautiful array of colors and mild lettuce-like flavor, pansies brighten any dish. For this salad, only lemon juice is used as a dressing. The walnuts and feta add quite enough flavor.
Ingredients:
4 cups mixed greens
1/4 cup fresh sprigs of dill
1/4 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
4 large basil leaves, rolled up and thinly sliced crosswise
1 large lemon, halved
Pinch of salt
Fresh ground black pepper to taste
1 cup toasted walnuts
3/4 cup crumbled feta
1 cup fresh pansy flowers
Directions:
Toss salad greens and herbs in a large bowl. Squeeze lemon juice (without the seeds) over the greens and season with salt and pepper. Toss again. Add walnuts and feta and toss well. Divide salad and pansies among four serving plates and serve.

Maybe some lavendar lemonade to wash it down? :)

Paper Butterflies
These little creatures are so pretty. Can you imagine if there were real butterflies that looked like these ones? If I knew how, I would love to animate these little butterflies in a stop motion style. They look dainty and simple to make too. (via Esprit Champêtre)Also, the lovely lady of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is having a giveaway of a beautiful piece of jewelry by White Owl. Here's an old post with more about this lovely Etsy shop.

Dance and Romance
I have been doing a lot of dancing the past two days (Saturday morning, all night, and all day today). So needless to say I have dance on my mind. I found these lovely pictures by photographer Emma Lauren. They make me sigh...Aren't they so beautiful and romantic?Other photo sources: Beauty in Everything, We (heart) It

Tapas in Vancouver
So for my birthday I decided to try a new restaurant on downtown Granville Street. Barcelona Cafe is only three months old but it was bustling and served delicious authentic Spanish food. What made the evening even better is that the owner came over to our table to talk to us! It just made the experience so much more personable :) I also loved the interior. Decorated with dark brown leather chairs, dark stained wooden tables and pictures of Barcelona on the walls, it has a simple but inviting atmosphere. I wish I had a picture! It's a great example of a successful small space. If you've never eaten real Spanish tapas, you should. You won't be disappointed. Here are some pictures I found of my favorites...

Gene Kelly's Lucky Day
One of my favorite movies of all time is Gene Kelly's Singing in the Rain. I love this song and guess what Cosmo Brown says?! March 24 is Don Lockwood's (played by Gene Kelly) lucky day!

Fashionable Birthday Balloons
Hello! Happy Wednesday (at least for ten more minutes)! I'm so so stuffed with delicious food! Today is my 21st birthday and I got home from a lovely dinner with my parents and aunt and uncle. Now I'm watching a classic Ginger Rogers film entitled Fifth Avenue Girl and started watching it just as one of the characters declared it was his birthday and a whole restaurant of people sang to him! Haha what a funny coincidence. I didn't have a big party full of balloons but here are a few photos that I liked...

The Sugar Queen
I'm currently sitting in a...well it's not really a cafe. I guess it's more like a mini and nicely decorated food court type place with three places for food, including that great Canadian treasure, Tim Horton's. With good weather and warmth on the way I'm trying to avoid the sugar, which leads to more craving. So to satisfy this craving right now I'm looking at a wonderful novel entitled The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. It's such a wonderfully whimsical tale where the colour red has surprising powers and real passion makes the eggs fry in their cartons. It's filled with magic and sweets. Lots and lots of sweets! I'll show you. That's a lot of sugar. Just looking at it helps satisfy the sweet tooth. I think I'll make it through another day. Then again... I might just head over to the vending machine... I am a sugar queen after all.

A Philippine Beach
Hello lovelies :) I can't believe we are closing in on April. Is it just me or is this year flying by?! I have to share pictures of the beach that, if I'm lucky and can sort out my schedule, I might be able to go to. I've visited my cousins in Manila, Philippines many times and have gone to the beach but I have never been to Dumaguete. Just looking at these pictures plus being able to see family is really making me want to go there right now instead of working on my school work! Those huts out on the water are a relaxing day of swimming, sunshine, and beach food!My uncle and cousin :)

Fondant and Cupcakes
Even though I'm nowhere near to getting married, I enjoy browsing all things wedding! I went to a wedding last summer and the cake was so pretty and extremely delicious. It was covered in yellow fondant, decorated with black accents, and consisted of layers of white cake, passion fruit, and mango ice cream. I don't have a picture of that cake but here are a few that I found over at Cake Creations. From the traditional to unique to cupcakes, these are the ones I liked best:
