Halloween Fashion

It's Halloween weekend already? What are you getting dressed up as? I was going to dress up as Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd...

...maybe next year :P

Then I found a fun shop on Etsy called Beadmask and saw the Raven Queen Jewelled Leather Mask.Incredible piece isn't it? I would love to wear a black tulle gown and be the Raven Queen for halloween! Here are a few of the gowns I think would love to wear; a little more glamourous than my first costume idea...
(Wholesomefashion)
Oscar de la Renta always has incredible gowns. Like this one below (also worn by Lea Michele)
(NY Time Style)
Or this one also from Oscar de la Renta...

Vancouver's Fall Colours

What's bright pink and red? A tree?!
I realized today that I've praised the fall season and gave it the distinction of being my favourite season. Yes, I love wearing boots, sweaters and scarves and I don't really mind the rain (when I'm prepared for it), but those aren't the only reasons why. So please excuse the bad quality of these photos. I forgot my camera and I couldn't wait so I used my cellular phone! These are Vancouver's fall colours: crimson, yellow, gold, yellow-green, orange, cranberry, pink, neons and, of course, greens...
After along day of classes I finally get to leave campus!
Can you believe there are October roses on the western tip of campus? The umbrella is no surprise.
A typical tree lined Vancouver street...
So there you have it: a little colourful and damp glimpse of suburban Vancouver! I'm sorry I didn't take advantage of our sunny Tuesday!

Macarons

Macarons... I would love to go to Paris and walk into a fabulous little patisserie and purchase some! Ladurée maybe? They are such pretty and dainty sweets with all their pastel colours and delicate crunch. At the risk of sounding like a snob, how very Rococo, no? ;) I love the way they are photographed in these pictures (weheartit).

North and South

I just watched the BBC version of one my most favourite novels of all time, North and South . It is an incredible novel by Elizabeth Gaskell written in 1855. It tells the story of Margaret Hale -a Southerner who moves to the northern industrial town of Milton- and her struggles to reconcile her sympathy for the town's mill workers with her growing attraction to Mr. Thornton, one of the masters of this industrial world. As I looked for photos I discovered that you can read the novel online for free at the Literature Network and that you can watch the BBC version online for free (there are a few places you can find it by googling if that link doesn't work). It is a great period piece if ever you are in the mood for one...

Sketch Theatre

It's a stormy windy day in Vancouver. The trees and all their colours are waving around and the wind is whistling! Time for big mug of hot chocolate and a seat in front of the fireplace! But before I do that, I have to share this video of artist Christian Lorenz Scheurer. It's fascinating to watch an artist do his work! Thanks to Sketch Theatre, we can see the whole process...

Funny Face

Thank goodness it's Friday! Tonight I am going to curl up in my super fluffy comforter with the latest Vogue, or maybe watch Funny Face (1957). It's a classic! Everyone knows Audrey Hepburn from the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's but this one is just as fashionable! Singing, dancing, fashion, photography, a magazine... it's a talkie for gals! And who doesn't love Paris and balloons?

Interior Design Show

Hello hello! I just from the Interior Design Show West and it was so inspiring! I want to redecorate now. I got to see Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe and get some good design tips and I got to explore the amazing booths. I couldn't help but notice a few trends. In many of the show rooms I saw lots of black and white, avocado greens and eggplant purples, clear furniture and pendant lamps... But there were so many beautiful things there, I could go on and on. Here are a few things/booths that caught my eye:

The Cross Decor and Design
World Mosaic
CalligarisDutch Green Design
Design House
Adorable textiles from LUprints
One of my favourites, Liberty
